The seacadet building that is only a few hundred yards from me caught fire last night and i had a ring side view.The firemen seemed to have it under control after a few hours well thats what me and my nieghbour thought but the truth was 2 firemen were said to of been injured and the fire couldnt be controled at ground leve,so when we thought that they engines were pulling away infact the were waiting for thier cherry pickers pluss the fire to burn up to roof because that was the only way they could get at it.After about a hour or so i saw the cherry pickers set up out side my gate and the little red flame comming from side of roof then all of a sudden the roof just went up and the flames shot out high into the sky it was hot.The firemen waited a bit then when time right went up in cherry pickers and started to spray tons of water into building it took a while but they got it undercontrol and without any damage to any where but the building,Thier plan worked briliant and they certainly knew what they were doing that was a real proffesional job and it was great to see it goes to show how good and hard working these men are and how dedicated they are.Personaly i think they were briliant and people who abuse them should be looked up.

I totally agree with you that firemen are the salt of the earth.

are their any other public servants that we can praise.

I would nominate nurses !!!

I totaly agree VIP the nurses are worthevery penny they get,The things they put up with is unbelivable i have been in the A& E on a friday night when the drunks come in,swearing and shouting and expecting to be treated by the people they are throwing abuse at.Alot of the time its young girls or thier boy friends.
I know you can get the odd not so nice nurse but its very rare.
Years ago this wouldnt happen to any of the emergency services there seemed more respect pluss our parents wouldnt stand for it.
