A popular former Seaham publican has died suddenly, aged 78. (Sunderland Echo 20 April 2009)

Eric Murray and his wife, Peggy, took over the Mill Inn, in Stockton Road, in 1967, staying for 24 years.

I cant say i remember him Ray but i didnt go to mill inn a lot,i remember billy black who died from royal navy club he was a good bloke.
Most of our old haunts have gone now or only open at weekends, lacy,s is compleatly closed as is the nack and redstar.Down the harbour its like a ghost town the navy club only opens at week ends the northumberland (lonley hearts club) is closed the blanford is a hairdresses the castlerea was a shop but is closed there is no buffs -club,york house was a rugbyclub i think it only opens at weekends theres no dawdon club or hotel now.I bet you remember some of these Ray.Then theres oddies that is just been taking over.

Even though you have put his photo on Ray i cant place him,if it had been walter fox from dawdon hotel or lacys then i did know him,his stepson richard knowles married VD or vicky davison tonys sister. He also has passed away but he was a good bit older than her.Your relation had York house for a while i believe brian was his name.I did tell you that pip was married to our johns wifes sister but divorced now,he realy looks old.
I did see another of your relatives from same fam huey who married gwens sister alfreda he looks okay as does she.Well i think they are related to you,did you know that they all have a big family metting every year and the whole clan is there. The last one was at lesiure centre.
