... JUST A QUICK INTRODUCTION ...
To,
Lucy, Redrose, VIP, Jim, Ray and all other moderators and contributors - keep up the good work. Websites like this do a great job of holding a community together. Ray Scollen I already know (we go back a very long time) but a big 'HELLO' to all the rest of you. First a brief Bio as way of introduction.
I'm Barrie Grundy, born in Seaham (Princess Rd) 1944. Went to Dawdon primary school from about 1950 to '56. Moved to Edward St (behind the fire station) where I met up with Ray and some other real characters - who soon led me astray.
Joined the RAF when I left school, then British Aerospace where I've spent the rest of my career (mostly abroad) - apart from a 7yr period when I ran my own business before selling up in the 80s and returning to BAe. Took very early retirement in May of 2000 but after 18 mths became bored so have a small part-time job just to give me a reason to get up.
I now live in Devon but still have a sister Hazel, in Deneside so I pop back at odd intervals - will be there later this summer if anyone wants to meet up for a drink.
All the Best,
Barrie
